Join Us in Honoring Month of the Child/Child Abuse Prevention Month 2017!

(San Luis Obispo, CA) – Sound the kazoos for kids! Once again, the Central Coast is ready to celebrate children and families – during April: Month of the Child & Child Abuse Prevention Month.

First 5 SLO County, and all of its partners, invite you to save the date for just a few of many events dedicated to our youngest citizens, and honoring their value to our community.

SLO County Proclamation – Tuesday, April 4th - Time to be announced! Gov’t Center – 1055 Monterrey Street Room D-170: Join the community-wide commemoration, as the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors officially proclaim April as “Month of the Child and Child Abuse Prevention Month.”

Children’s Day in the Plaza - Saturday, April 8th – 10am-3pm – Mission Plaza – Downtown SLO: More than 70 community resource agencies, vendors and exhibitors across SLO County will be on site for this 39th annual fun family tradition that includes a variety of entertainment, activities and giveaways.

Nipomo Kids’ Day – Saturday, April 8th – 11am-2pm – Nipomo Community Park: Families can enjoy the annual Easter Egg Hunt along with bounce houses, entertainment, crafts, food booths, and youth activities.

Talk.Read.Sing. Express Makes Two Stops in SLO County – April 12th &13th: Karaoke, hand puppets, books for all ages, musical instruments and more will get those little ones’ neural connections firing away at First 5 California’s interactive traveling exhibit that is all about boosting brain development and promoting early literacy. Catch it at the SLO Central Library’s Newly Renovated Children’s Reading Area Wednesday, April 12th from 10am-2pm as well as the Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market Thursday, April 13th from 6pm-9pm.

Oceano Children’s Day - Sunday, April 23rd – 1pm-3:30pm – Oceano Community Center: It’s another jam-packed jubilee of games, prizes, health screenings, child activities, and nutritious snacks. The Food Bank will also host a distribution and Children’s Farmers Market.

Atascadero Children’s Day in the Park – Saturday, April 22nd – 11am-3pm – Atascadero Lake Park: Take in all the usual fun stuff for families, complete with carnival wristbands and rides on the famed Elk’s Train! Learn about local resources and programs available to support children and families.

Paso Robles Day of the Child, Day of the Book – Sunday, April 30th – 1pm-3pm – Uptown Family Park: Together with Dia!.. In partnership with the Paso Robles City Library, help celebrate the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Free entertainment, crafts and activities  – plus the Bucket Busters!
