Welcome to The First 5 San Luis Obispo County new Children's Oral Health webpage. Visit this site to find out more about what is happening in our county with regard to Children's Oral Health. On February 22, 2008 First 5 San Luis Obispo County, in partnership with The California Endowment, hosted a Children's Oral Health Summit. The objectives of the Summit are below. 1. Define community and family needs in identifying problems and solutions for oral health access as it relates to children’s over all health. 2. Identify paradigms to promote health and integrate children’s oral health into other health and social programs. 3. Identify family, academic and community partnerships to provide oral health education and prevention programs for children and families to reduce the incidence of early childhood caries. 4. Identify different approaches to children’s oral health care at the community level with collaborative funding initiatives (private-public initiatives including opportunities for federal/state sponsorship). 5. Develop a mission/vision to initiate and sustain an Oral Health Program for the children of San Luis Obispo County to establish accessible, quality and timely pediatric dental care, especially for our most vulnerable population of children.
